William "Dave" Primus Biography Editor

A remembrance for Dave Primus, whose decades of volunteer service and unwavering support left a lasting mark on Pasco athletics and community life.
Born on September 3, 1942, in the small town of Genessee, Idaho, Dave learned early the values of responsibility and commitment, returning home as a young man to support his family after the loss of his father. In 1962 he married Patricia Magee; they had four children and lived in Clarkston, Washington; La Grande, Oregon; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Salt Lake City, Utah, before settling in Pasco, Washington in 1974 where he opened Primus Fashion Footwear.
He later built a life centered on service&mdash;to his family, his church, and the Pasco community he proudly called home.
For more than 50 years, Dave was a dedicated supporter of Pasco High School, best known for his enthusiastic involvement in track and field. As a coach, WIAA official, and longtime organizer of the Pasco Invite, Dave&rsquo;s energy, fairness, and love for the&nbsp;sport helped shape the meet into what it is today. His presence at the track was a constant&mdash;welcoming, dependable, and deeply&nbsp;appreciated by athletes, coaches, and officials alike.&nbsp;
Dave passed away on June 27, 2026. He is survived by Karen, his wife of 23 years his four children Ken (Melanie) of Richland, Washington; Heidi (Doug) Fassler of Prosser, Washington; Tammy Frage of Kennewick, Washington; and Katie Stoffle (and Rich Jones) of Richland, Washington. He considered himself fortunate and was thankful to have many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Remembered as an exuberant storyteller, loyal friend, proud Kiwanian, and devoted family man, Dave gave generously of his time and spirit. The Pasco Invite is grateful for his many years of service and honors his enduring legacy of volunteerism, leadership and community pride.
